The Moorish town of Cantoria is situated just 7 km’s north-west of Albox, and approximately 383m above sea level. This charming town is known as “The Pearl” of the Almanzora Valley. Cantoria is an ideal place for walkers and country lovers alike with it´s pine covered red rock hills which surround the village and the superb views and landscapes.
This ancient town founded in 1830 has many places of historical interest, including the Church built in 1871 with its two towers heading skywards. The town is easily negotiated on foot or for the fitter among us, by bicycle.
Cantoria offers a wide range of amenities including its Town Hall, post office, shops, banks, bars and restaurants. The Sports Centre includes a basketball court, a football pitch and a public pool.
Cantoria offers plenty of entertainment for families and children during the summer months, including the Fiesta of Summer celebrated for the whole of the first weekend in August. There is music and dancing, adult entertainment and plenty for the children to do. During January there is a Fiesta of Fireworks which also lasts the whole weekend, although during the evenings this is not suitable for children.
Cantoria also has schools for children of all ages and a 24 hour medical centre, it also boasts its own theatre built in 1926. The local market, where you can buy local produce, is held every Wednesday morning.
